Bryce nodded towards the lighted door, where someone had started to hum and the shuffling of papers could be heard. It was so quiet- how could he not hear their heavy breath, their bulk? It felt out of place. Bryce began stalking down the hallway and turned to look at fire, waiting for her permission to blow the door in.

Fire nodded. She stared at the door, walking around to the other side of Bryce, so she could charge in right after he blew it down. The song he was humming made her extremely uneasy, but she couldn't pin point why.

Summoning a huge breath of fire, he shot a smoky ball of it right at the door, reared back, and slammed his front feet against it, forcing the door to collapse. Fire charged in spitting and Bryce was hot on her heels- but there wasn't any screaming or fighting. As the wall smoldered behind them, the pair stared at the mansion dweller. Young-ish, perhaps mid twenties, with long dark hair in a simple plait down his back. A fine silk shirt with a patterned neck tie showed an aristocrat, but a rough, burnt leather jerkin over top spoke to a well worked country man. His face was smooth for all but a short beard and twisted mustache. His eye brows were severely arched and fine black shoes squeaked on the ruined, water stained floor. he sat at a broad desk, half of which was encompassed in vines, the other half of which was encompassed in papers and candles (what emitted the glow), as well as a half eaten apple. He finished scratching out a word in jet black ink with a flourish, licked the nib of his pheasant feather quill, and, with frosty elegance, looked up. He shuffled his papers and tucked them into a broad cloth satchel. "Well, well well," he said with false companionship in his teeth. "I've been expecting you."
This was horribly, weirdly wrong. But one thing struck a cord in Bryce's heart deeper than anything else- He was speaking in the tongue of Dragons.

Fire gasped, taking a small step backwards. She knew this man, and knew him all too well. She growled lowly. "What do you want?" She asked him, knowing he understand perfectly well. She bit back the urge to blast fire into his eyes or rip out his lungs. Both seemed like a good idea, though.

The man inspected the ink smudges on his fingers, then pulled some fine white riding gloves over top of them. "I imagine that even a brute such as yourself could figure that out," he said simply, standing up and shouldering his satchel. He slipped a barbed whip from his belt. Bryce whimpered. Just when things started to settle down... The man picked up his apple, nipped off a bit more, then threw it into the flames encompassing the door. Sweet smoke and crackling filled the room even more. "Alexandrite!" he barked. A hole in the roof of the room lead up to attic- from it streaked a very large, very fast, very fearsome dragon. Her neck was long and slim, her scales ruby red, her spine run all the way down with a silky plum mane. Glittery purple eyes looked full of cold stars as she settled her streamlined body behind the man, eyes down cast in respect. A saddle was strapped between her wings and her neck, made of dark, braided leather. A string of purple feathers and stones trailed from her bridle. Bryce stepped back uncomfortably. "And who are you?" the man asked cruelly. "A member of the Fleet, I suppose? This is a new move for you, Fire. What happened to the independent life? I suspect it's made you soft. This, then, should be no problem." He grinned boyishly, cruelly, and swung onto Alexandrite's saddle. He quickly pulled two straps over each each leg and buckled them with expert speed. The mute Fire Dragon snorted tiny purple sparks. "I don't suppose you plan on going quietly?" he asked in a hushed voice. "No? Right then.
This is the part where you run."

"Go now!" She yelled to Bryce pushing him through the doorway. She dragged him down the staircase and ran through the front door, keeping Bryce a few feet ahead of her. She ran into the yard only to hear the dragon pound its wings. He was coming. "Run!" She ordered Bryce

"What's going on?" The Dragon growled fearfully, sprinting nito the words. Like a shooting star, Alexandrite shot from the ruined roof and dove toward the pair, who kept low to the ground and beneath the trees. Birds scattered into the deceptively peaceful summer sky. They had to lead them away from the fleet, even at risk to they own lives.

"Don't fly, Alexandrite will catch you." She said, dashing through the undergrowth. Fire took a quick look back only to find them gaining fast. She turned to dashed the other direction, signaling for Bryce to follow. She was leading them towards the humans, planning to go around the city.

"That," Bryce hissed, "is not a comprehensive explanation of what is going on." The world was beginning to swim in a red, soupy haze of anger. If he didn't calm down soon, some very unwise choices were about to be made on his part. The forest was beginning to thin- his feet were stabbed by pebbles as the path bled into gravel. An alarmed cabbage seller wheeling his wares into the city dove for cover as the pair thundered past. Open sky. Alexandrite began to work up a flame. "Seriously? Here too?" raged the cabbage man.

Fire's temper was being worked up by Bryce's own. "You want me to give a long winded explanation of what's going on now!" She hissed veering towards the cabbage man. Hoping that Alexandrite wouldn't shoot if human could be harmed, or that she did and was forced to stop because she hit the man. Right as the fire was about to be shot she turned and dashed back towards Bryce, the fire aiming straight towards the poor cabbage man.

The man ran, and his cart imploded. The pair sped farther into the city. Buildings seemed to be erected around them in super speed. Soon, the bells of a cathedral tolled and gowns were pulled form their claws. Shouts of "Tomfoolery!" and "Whose bloody beasts are these?" chased them through the silver streets. "Not... now... per se... " panted Bryce. "Apologies, sirs!" shouted their chaser. "Seems the Dragons are having a quibble!" How can he understand us? Bryce wondered angrily.

"Right!" She called out to Bryce, pushing him towards the direction of a side street. From there, she lead him through more than a few side streets before they were ended up outside the city again. To there right was the ocean, and to the left was a dense forest. She coughed at the smell of the salty sea pushing into her nose. She turned towards the forest, slowly running out of energy to continue this. Her heart pounded so loud she could hear it in her head. Once the pair was under the cover of the forest she searched for any means of staying hidden, but none appeared for them.

(( name ideas for our antagonist? if not I'm going with Doran Bold ))
The man laughed. Within moments Alexandrite was on the ground in front of them, neck lowered automatically so that her master could gaze smugly at the frozen pair. "No where to run, kiddies!" he said, delighted. Hi whip snapped in the air and as it cracked Alexandrite twisted her neck and pulled a net from the saddle bags tossing it effortlessly over the pair with her superior strength. Bryce wormed his muzzle though the netting and puffed smoke fruitlessly. "That's fire proof," he said casually, and extracted two viles of knock out poison from his jerkin.

Isn't that a character from....something? But idk nor do I care so go ahead!)
Fire growled lowly, "Coward! Always manipulating dragons just to get to people! It pathetic!" A speech he had heard hundreds of times before. She panted. Then before he could inject the poison into them, she shot out spikes from her decal, lighting them on fire as they went. Some struck the viles, The other bounced of Alexandrite, a few didn't make it through the net. She prepared to fire more.

Meanwhile, Ersius was back at the camp, watching Brin curiously. She hadn't followed the others into the human building, but now that Brin was back in camp, she wasn't going to let anything get to their leader.

Brin woke after a short lived nap. He heaved himself up and staggered towards the river, thirsty. He felt someone watching what he was doing, but wasn't alarmed or surprised by it. He had made a mistake.

Ersius followed, not quite sure if she was allowed or not. "Um, Brin?" she started. "I was kind of... not fully informed on the situation."
She cleared her throat and attempted a polite and professional demeanor. "What actually happened back there?"

"No one informed you? I was scouting, and got close to the humans' city and was caught by a trapper. When I woke, Fire Starter and Bryce had found me and explained that I was put into a hidden basement of sorts in the abandoned house I was searching around when I was found by the human. Simple as that." He left out a few parts about him failing to win a fight against the human and his dragon. Which he hadn't remembered until recently.

"Oooh, that's unfortunate. I heard that Bryce and Fire Starter are back there now to investigate." She ruffled her wings, looking antsy. "Perhaps I should go find them and help?"

He paused his conversation to drink and think. I'm not sure if that man has left yet. He thought to himself. When he lifted his head up again he replied with "I think that would be a good idea." He said waited for her to take off.
